                      One        TRILLION            pounds

What does one TRILLION pounds look like?

look down the page you wont believe it .

    make money on the net

Well here is the largest English note £50

one  packet of one hundred £50 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains £5,000..

Here is Zoë   beside believe it or not,  half million pounds (100 packets of £5,000).

Here is Zoë    beside one million quid you can stuff it in a carrier bag easy

And the average bonus for high flying bankers

One million seconds comes out to be about 11½ days.

A million minutes ago was – 1 year, 329 days, 10 hours and 40 minutes ago.

A million hours ago was in 1885.

U.S. Treasury.  deficit is a million dollars every  five (5) seconds

Here is Zoë   with £50 million on a one meter pallet

Here is Zoë  with £100 million

Here is Zoë  beside five hundred million which is

half a BILLION pounds

Here is Zoë with One BILLION pounds

A billion seconds is 32 years.

A billion minutes ago was just after the time of Christ.

A billion hours ago man had not yet walked on earth.

A billion dollars deficit everyday at the U.S. Treasury.

How about this then Here is Zoë  beside half a trillion pounds

what a difference

can  you see Zoë !!! ..

50 meters wide double stacked

Don’t forget they are £50 notes

So here we are then Here is Zoë

{she's had to move to the other side }

beside ONE TRILLION pounds. in fifty pound notes

it fits the pitch at Wembley yes its 2 pallets high]   the United kingdom debt is two Wembley s like this.

After a trillion, a quadrillion comes next.

One trillion seconds ago – 31,688 years – Neanderthals stalked the plains of Europe.

if you laid out a Trillion one dollar bills or Scottish pound notes end to end that will take you almost 4 million miles past the sun

It's a thousand billion. It's a one followed by 12 zeros.

if you counted one per second for  a trillion seconds it will take you  32,000 years

The country has not existed for a trillion seconds.
Western civilization has not been around a trillion seconds.

A trillion is written as 1,000,000,000,000

A trillion pounds is so large a number that only politicians
can use the term in conversation.

even then the numbers can  mean hugely differing amounts [so make sure they say how many zeros ]

As it was until 1974

American    English
thousand thousand
million million
billion thousand million
trillion billion
quintillion trillion
sextillion thousand trillion
septillion quadrillion
octillion thousand quadrillion

however
In 1974, the government of the

UK switched to the short scale, a change that is reflected in its mass media and official usage.

since then the uk and the united states use the same [but you have to watch them ]

so this is based on the short scale system

For most of the 19th and 20th centuries, the United Kingdom uniformly used the long scale, while the United States of America used the short scale,[ see  diagram] so that the two systems were often referred to as British and American
